Room-by-Room Guide to a Low-Tox Home Makeover

Transform your home into a healthier haven with this simple, room-by-room guide to low-tox living. Whether you’re just beginning your wellness journey or looking to take things deeper, these swaps help reduce harmful chemicals, support your family’s health, and bring peace of mind.

Why Go Low-Tox?

Many everyday products contain hidden toxins that can impact hormones, respiratory health, and overall well-being. The good news? You don’t have to overhaul everything at once—start with one room and grow from there.

Kitchen – The Heart of the Home

  • Thieves Dish Soap & Fruit & Veggie Soak: Wash away grease, grime, and pesticide residues without synthetic fragrances or sulfates.
  • Glass or Stainless Steel Storage: Ditch plastic containers that can leach chemicals into your food.
  • Reusable Towels: Replace paper towels with washable cloths to save money and reduce waste.
Pro Tip: Keep a Thieves Household Cleaner spray bottle under the sink for countertops, tables, and even the inside of your fridge.

Living Room – Fresh Air & Cozy Spaces

  • Thieves Household Cleaner: Safe enough for little hands and paws, this can replace dozens of conventional sprays. Use it on wood, glass, and even electronics screens.
  • Diffuser with Thieves Essential Oil Blend: Purify the air naturally and ditch artificial air fresheners.
  • Houseplants: Snake plants, peace lilies, and pothos naturally filter toxins from indoor air.

Bathroom – Where Chemicals Hide

  • Thieves Foaming Hand Soap & Toothpaste: Replace antibacterial soaps and fluoride-laden pastes with plant-based alternatives.
  • Thieves Mouthwash: Supports oral health without alcohol or synthetic dyes.
  • Shower Filter: Reduce chlorine exposure for healthier skin and hair.
  • Non-YL Swap: Switch to organic cotton towels and bath mats to cut down on dyes and synthetic fibers.

Laundry Room – Clothes That Care for You

  • Thieves Laundry Soap: A small amount goes a long way—concentrated, plant-based, and safe for sensitive skin.
  • Wool Dryer Balls + a Few Drops of Thieves or Lavender Oil: Say goodbye to chemical-filled dryer sheets.
  • Line Dry When Possible: Saves energy and reduces fabric wear.

Bedroom – Your Restorative Retreat

  • Thieves Spray: Freshen linens, pillows, and mattresses naturally.
  • Ditch Synthetic Candles: Replace with a diffuser or beeswax candles.
  • Low-VOC Paints & Natural Fiber Bedding: When redecorating, choose healthier options that support restful sleep.

Kids’ Room – Safe & Sound

  • Thieves Cleaner (Diluted): Perfect for wiping toys, play mats, and furniture without worrying about toxic residues.
  • Non-YL Swap: Wooden toys, organic cotton bedding, and low-tox craft supplies.
  • Air Circulation: Keep windows open when weather permits to reduce indoor pollutants.

Laundry & Cleaning Closet – Simplify the Stash

Instead of a dozen different products, one bottle of Thieves Household Cleaner (with different dilution ratios) can cover nearly everything: glass, counters, floors, bathrooms, and more.
Pro Tip: Print out a dilution chart and tape it inside your cleaning cabinet for easy reference.

Getting Started: One Step at a Time

You don’t have to do it all today. Pick one room that matters most to you and your family, and begin there. Over time, these small swaps add up to a healthier, low-tox lifestyle that supports your wellness journey.
