A Simpler Way to Feel Better This Summer (Without Overhauling Your Life)

A Simpler Way to Feel Better This Summer (Without Overhauling Your Life)

🌿 Essential Oils for Summer Wellness: Simple Routines That Actually Work

Feeling Run Down Heading Into Summer?

Summer is supposed to feel light and fun… but if you’re anything like me, it can also feel like a lot.
More activities.
More people.
More pressure to “feel good” and keep up.
And somewhere in the middle of all that, it’s easy to feel:
  • tired by mid-afternoon
  • mentally scattered
  • a little off in your body
I remember seasons where I kept thinking, “Why don’t I feel as good as I should right now?”
I didn’t need a complete life overhaul…
I just needed a few simple things that actually supported my body.
That’s where essential oils became part of my everyday rhythm—not in a complicated way, just in small, consistent ways that made a difference.

What Are Essential Oils (and Why Do They Matter)?

I used to think essential oils were just something that smelled nice.
But they’re actually concentrated plant extracts—capturing the natural compounds from botanicals that can support how we feel physically and emotionally.
And while they’re simple to use, they can be surprisingly effective when used consistently.
If you enjoy understanding the research side of things, organizations like the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health have explored how practices like aromatherapy may support stress and overall well-being.
But honestly? What mattered most to me was this:
I finally had something simple I could reach for… and I didn’t feel helpless anymore.

Supporting Your Energy (Without Overthinking It)

Let’s talk about that mid-afternoon slump for a second.
You know the one—where your brain feels foggy, your body slows down, and you still have half your day left.
That used to be me.
One of the first things I started using consistently was peppermint oil.
  • A quick inhale
  • A drop diluted on my wrists
  • A drop on the roof of my mouth
  • Or diffusing it while I worked
It didn’t magically fix everything—but it shifted things enough that I could keep going without reaching for something else.
Citrus oils like lemon or grapefruit can work in a similar way—helping create a more energized, fresh-feeling environment.

Calming the Mental Noise

Summer isn’t always relaxing—it can actually be overstimulating.
Between schedules, travel, and just being “on” more, your nervous system can feel it.
Lavender was one of the first oils I used consistently at night.
Not because I read a study…
But because I needed something to help me wind down.
  • Diffusing it in the evening
  • A simple spray on my pillow
  • Or applying it diluted before bed
Oils like bergamot, Stress Away, Peace and Calming can also support a more balanced mood during the day.

If you’re someone who likes digging deeper, the National Institutes of Health has published research exploring how scent and mood are connected.
But again—the real value is how it fits into your real life.

Making Oils Practical (Not Complicated)

This is where I think people get stuck.
They assume they need:
  • a big collection
  • complicated recipes
  • or perfect routines
You really don’t.
Here are three simple ways to start:

1. Diffusion

Add a few drops to a diffuser in the room you spend the most time in.

2. Topical Use

Dilute with a carrier oil and apply to:
  • wrists
  • neck
  • or the bottoms of your feet

3. Inhalation

Sometimes the simplest thing works best—just inhale directly from the bottle when you need it.
That’s it.

Supporting Real-Life Summer Moments

This is where essential oils really started to feel practical for me.
Not just “wellness”… but everyday life.

☀️ After Too Much Sun

Lavender can be helpful for supporting skin that feels irritated or overexposed.

🦟 Outdoor Evenings

Oils like citronella and eucalyptus are often used in natural bug-repelling blends.

✈️ Travel Days

Tea tree and oregano are commonly used to support overall wellness when routines are off.
Nothing complicated—just simple tools that help you feel more prepared.

Creating a Healthier Home Environment

One thing I didn’t fully realize at first…
Was how much my environment mattered.
The products we use every day—cleaners, fragrances, sprays—can impact how we feel more than we think.
That’s part of what led me to start swapping things out slowly.
Simple things like:
If you’re curious about environmental exposure, the Environmental Protection Agency has helpful information on indoor air quality and household chemicals.
For me, it wasn’t about perfection.
It was about making small changes that felt better.

A Simple Summer Routine (That You’ll Actually Stick With)

If you’re wondering where to start, here’s a simple rhythm:

Morning

Diffuse citrus oils while getting ready—it helps set the tone for the day.

Midday

Use peppermint when energy dips (you’ll know when you need it).

Evening

Wind down with lavender or calming blends.
No pressure. No perfection.
Just consistency.

Why This Matters More Than You Think

This isn’t really about oils.
It’s about not feeling stuck.
It’s about having something you can reach for…
instead of feeling like you have to push through.
Because when you feel better—even a little—it changes:
  • how you show up
  • how you respond to stress
  • how you enjoy your life

So What’s the Next Step?

If you’re reading this and thinking:
“I want to feel better… but I don’t know where to start”
You’re not alone.
And you don’t have to figure it out on your own either.
I love helping women simplify this—whether that’s:
  • choosing the right oils
  • building a simple routine
  • or figuring out what your body actually needs
If that sounds like something you’d want help with, you can schedule a consult and we’ll walk through it together—no overwhelm, just a clear starting point.

One Quick Question Before You Go…

What’s one area of your health that feels hardest right now?
Energy?
Stress?
Sleep?
Something else?
I’d genuinely love to hear.
